Overview
Tyler Hobbs’ debut monograph, published by Unit and Hurtwood, is one of the first to focus on the work of a generative artist. Contextualizing his art from 2018–2023, Order/Disorder includes works from Hobbs’ solo exhibitions at Unit, London, and Pace, New York, in 2023.
Structured around the concept of dualities, the book explores Hobbs’ systematic approaches to art-making, the creative relationship between man and machine, computer-led aesthetics, and the interplay of repetition and emergence across long-form generative projects.
Order/Disorder features an interview between Hobbs and Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director of the Serpentine Galleries, and an essay by Melanie Lenz, curator of digital art at the Victoria & Albert Museum, alongside texts by the artist that introduce each thematically arranged section of plates.
Art books have played an essential role in Hobbs' artistic journey, serving as both a source of reference and a window into the minds of the artists he admires. The Trade Edition
The Trade Edition is a beautiful, open-edition, hardcover book featuring 240 pages of interviews, essays, and high-quality images of Tyler's art. This is hands-down the best way to spend time with Hobbs' body of work outside of seeing it in person. This edition aims to make generative art accessible and available to all!
The Collector's Edition
The Collector's Edition includes everything the Trade Edition does, with additional premium features, making it the perfect option for serious fans. This edition is limited to 999 copies, mirroring the editions of QQL and Fidenza. Once sold out, they won't be produced again. Each hardcover book is bound with premium cloth, includes a satin bookmark, and features an NFC chip embedded into the cover with autograph and blockchain registration capabilities. Most notably, each Collector’s Edition comes with a single hand-editioned print from one of Tyler’s Artist Proofs:

How to Claim
When you collect Tyler Hobbs’ physical or digital work, it comes with a digital certificate of authenticity that generates a record on the blockchain, providing proof of ownership and provenance.

By scanning the chip at the front of the Collector's Edition (not available for the Trade Edition) and following the instructions, you can claim a digital certificate of authenticity that confirms your ownership of this limited-edition collectible. Moreover, if Tyler ever gets the chance to sign your book, the certificate can reflect this too! Think of it as leaving your signature in the front cover for the next owner to discover, or as a way to prove that you own an authentic signed copy of the book.
