Like all of the works my first solo exhibition, Progress, this piece was focused on two things. First, it needed to be balanced perfectly between human influence and computer influence. Second, in order to achieve the first goal, it was created entirely through a recursive triangle subdivision algorithm.

I Also Know This Place Well felt to me (as the name suggests) like an emotional landscape I had inhabited. Not every time and place in our lives is cheerful, and when I made this work I was emerging from a period of great doubt and depression. In those times, I received comfort from the earth itself. The scale and weight of it were constants. In some ways I felt as if I was communicating with it, and its sorrows would echo my own.
