Aligned Movement

 combines the smooth, algorithmic precision of a generative flow field with an intuitive approach to composition. With the flow field laid down by a plotter on paper as a foundational layer, Hobbs was free to improvise an organic structure on top. Over the course of the work, a composition gradually developed and the flow field slowly disappeared. In this way, the work investigates the possibilities of using both the mind and the machine for their uniquely suited contributions.
