Like all of the works my first solo exhibition, PROGRESS, this piece was focused on two things. First, it needed to be balanced perfectly between human influence and computer influence. Second, in order to achieve the first goal, it was created entirely through a recursive triangle subdivision algorithm.

As the title work for my show, PROGRESS captured all the key elements I wanted the work to be about. It has movement up, beyond wherever we were before. The directions may not be perfect, but they get the job done, sooner or later. There are patterns and repetitions to how we move.

Visually, I was stoked about the ambiguity between 2D and 3D space this work ended up in. It also seemed to nail the middle ground between the precision of computer-driven placement and human error. Together, humans and computers will progress to a curious and wild place that we can only start to imagine.
