Like all of the works my first solo exhibition, PROGRESS, this piece was focused on two things. First, it needed to be balanced perfectly between human influence and computer influence. Second, in order to achieve the first goal, it was created entirely through a recursive triangle subdivision algorithm.

PROGRESS 2A (Stick With It, Friend) was the first work that solidified the concept for the PROGRESS show in my mind. I loved how the simple shapes could be combined with the rich, rough patterns of the subdivision algorithm to make something entirely new. It was not purely 2D, but had a touch of the third dimension floating in there.

Emotionally, I think this pattern resonated with me because it reminded me of the rising sun. Eventually, even the darkest periods will give way to light.
