Fidenza #163, the work on auction

Where is the Auction?

The auction will take place on OpenSea.

When Does the Auction Conclude?

The auction will end at noon CDT (5:00pm GMT) on Thursday, June 17th.

What Charity Do the Proceeds go to?

The full proceeds of the auction will go to AGE of Central Texas, a non-profit organization focused on caring for the elderly and enabling their caregivers. This is a cause that is near to my heart. Unfortunately, the medical system in our country can make it incredibly difficult for those in need to receive the care they need, and that is even more true for the elderly. This organization can make a difference in the lives of those who have few other resources to turn to.

What is the Painting Like?

The painting will be created in the following way:

First, the exact outline of the shapes will be plotted on a sheet of hand-made, toned Stonehenge paper, using a large-format plotter and a pencil.

Next, the shapes will be hand-painted by me using gouache paints. The final painting size will be 20 x 24 inches (50 x 60 cm), plus some extra paper margin.

I’ve used this combination of techniques for multiple works recently and the outcome is amazing. See for example the Linearization works that were created with the same process:

Linearization 3, an example of the plotter + hand-painted technique

The exact look will be adjusted to suit the Fidenza work as best as possible. In short, I’ll do everything that I can as an artist to make it an amazing painting.

Can The Winner Pick a Different Edition To Paint?

Yes, the winner has the option to select a different Fidenza edition to paint as long as they own the NFT and the edition has suitable traits. It must have the following traits to be eligible:

  • The scale must be Large, Jumbo, Jumbo XL, or Uniform

  • No Soft Shapes

  • Collision Detection must be “No Overlap”

Additionally, the following traits are not required, but I recommend them if you want a great looking painting:

  • The following color palettes generally work best: Luxe, Rad, Baked, and Politique, and Black

  • The light tan (“newsprint”) background is probably the best option. Other light colors like light pink, blue, or green may also work well

If you’re not sure if a particular edition would be a great fit, please feel free to ask me at tyler@tylerxhobbs.com. It’s possible that there are editions that don’t match the rules that I laid out that may still be a decent candidate.
